He probably didn't think this through, but since when does he in any situation to begin with? He have already gotten himself into a few embarrassing incidents and even was publicly rebuked by Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia. There's also that remark made by President Bush that made its way onto the microphone during a private conversation between him and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair. Really, they shouldn't have reported that one to begin with, as it was a private conversation. Though, I think somebody need to teach him a thing or two about table manners and to not talk with his mouth full.
The Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper was also there as a part of the G8 Summit. There's not really much to discuss, though he did make some efforts to bring the proposal and discussion of Canada being an 'emerging energy superpower'
Maybe the Chancellor did think it was amusing after being surprised, but the face she made at first is bound to give someone the impression that she isn't too amused.
