Banjo's Thoughts on Jericho
In this vlog, I discuss the episode of Jericho that was aired on CBS on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. The vlog is captioned for these who are not fluent in American Sign Language. For these who prefer to watch ASL vlogs without subtitles, you can disable it by clicking onto the “CC” icon.
I am looking forward to what all of you have to say regarding the recent episode of Jericho. Just to warn my readers who may have not watched the episode and are avoiding the spoilers. It would be a good idea to not read any of the comments left by the readers here as they may contain heavy spoilers.
Enjoy the vlog!
I liked the episode. I also liked the fact that Shoshannah's character was killed off. All too often, characters with disabilities take upon a saintly aura, where no harm can befall them.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I understand, Jericho has three more episodes. At least there will be some closure as the series winds down.
Todd, they were only able to produce 7 episodes as it was on a short notice. However, they filmed two endings in case of a renewal.
ReplyDeleteMissed it but, deja vu, eh? That sucks. Agreed with the expendable part, sad. She'll thrive elsewhere hopefully.
ReplyDeleteHey Banjo,
ReplyDeleteI am also a fan of the show...
I really liked Bonnie's role. I agree with what Todd said in regards to disabled people being portrayed with a "saintly aura".
Sure, her character was expendable..she never really contributed much to the show other than being an independent teenager in the middle of armageddon. However, Soshannah Stern shattered the "Saintly Aura" much like she did in the "Weeds" series. That was a valuable contribution if you ask me...I loved how she went out shooting those Ravenwood a-holes :-).
I am hoping Stern continues to get more roles...I checked her imdb.com page and it looks like there are no new TV series for her yet...but she is in a movie called "Adventures of Power" with the guy from Entourage..will have to check that out...
As for the "Threat Matrix" shows..are they any good??? (IMDB says "flop")
As for Jericho itself...it has been a great series and we are very fortunate to have these final episodes...CBS originally canceled the show until the NUTS campaign... It's a solid show..and I can't wait to see Jake and Hawkins take down the bad guys and expose the Cheyenne government...
Sometimes it's nice to have a conclusion to a series...sometimes it's tiring to have to wait for a new season...
I enjoyed reading your comments.
ReplyDeleteYou are much more observant than me, since Bonnie's death certainly surprised me.
I've put a summary and link in our Jericho blog/news archive.

Gwen, thanks for the mention. Appreciate it a lot!
ReplyDeleteJ.J., I did watch an episode of Threat Matrix. However, I can't say much as she didn't have much of a role in that episode. I don't think it's even on DVD.
I can't really tell you if it was any good since I didn't watch all of it.
I have both Weeds S1 and S2 on Blu-ray. Terrific show!
Kinda sad, since this is the first season I ever watched, and that was the first time I had ever seen "her".
ReplyDeleteBut she went out with style!
Banjo,
ReplyDeleteYou are one of my several favorite deaf commentators regarding motion picture stuff. I greatly admire your film intellects in many way,
I did get the feelings few weeks ago when the former government farm bureau official asked Bonnie if she wanted to join her in the big city. I got the aura about something bad will happen to Bonnie character. That hearing government official was up to no good.
I guess that the CBS executives want to get rid of the low-rated show by gradually killing off characters including Skeetch Urich and tie up all loose ends to shut down the entire show based on finanical interests, ex. big return with profits. Who knows?
I had a mixed feelings about the Bonnie character since she did lipread several characters without any logical means on last year's "Jericho" show.
Well, life is too short to make a big deal out of anything insignificant.

RLM, thank you for the compliment. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the ratings for Jericho is not getting as much viewers as CBS was hoping for.
Word is, it may get cancelled. If it does, I'm not going to complain about it. According to them, there will be closure this time if it isn't coming back for a third season since they filmed two different endings. One for the series finale and one for the season finale.
We should hear something any day now or within a week because the 7th and final episode is due to air in a couple weeks.
